Giving a Lightning talk at evolution 2013 (#evol2013)
June 26, 2013
I signed up for evolution in March 2013 and decided to give a lighning talk. I never gave such a talk before. This was also the first lighting talk session at evolution meetings. The meeting date of June 22-25 was comfortably far away. Beginning of June it was suddenly more pressing, in particular because I also gave a phylogenetic workshop talk for the society of systematic biology.
I was keen on using autoadvancing and some new layout for my latex-derived
PDF presentation. After searching the web and digging into the PDF definitions I did not find a good tool to add autoadvancing to the latex generated PDF.
Once I had the technical details out of the way there was no excuse anymore to deal with the content. The last bit was to adjust the timing that was the same for all slides. Using rehearsals of individual slides I stopped the time for each slide and then changed the time in the final PDF using a text editor (emacs).
I added a zip file that contains all the parts PDF-original, PDF-with_timings, README and python script setduration.py to this link:
